The ClubBuzz sports forum is a place for anyone linked to an amateur sports club to get together to discuss hot topics and issues in grass roots sports.
OK so thought we'd give you some taste of the new features coming on 1st September :) so today is new feature number 1 (Starting with a very exciting development!)
Firstly the new advanced feature "Embedding third party widgets"
You are able to embed widgets into public pages and member custom pages from the following sites:
• Fixtures Live • League Republic • Full Time • Facebook • Twitter • You Tube
This will make significant changes to your ability to customise your site and include new content as well as incorporating league placings, fixtures etc from these sites
This is great news....is there a guide to embedding the widgets ? I tried just now by putting the widget script into a document and all I got returned was the code I entered.
click the 'what are shortcodes' link when you create a new page, it gives you all the details there as an example for using FixturesLive just enter the code {{fixtures_live[DIVISION:nnnnn]}} where nnnnn is your unique id for your league
Guys, I can’t stress how important it is to have the facebook 'like' and twitter feed available on the homepage and in the get involved section of the website (it seems that it’s not possible to use short codes there).
In my opinion the whole point of the widgets is that they should be in a prominent position so that no work is necessary from the visitor’s point of view, for example, to 'like' the facebook page.
As great as the functionality is, it is massively restricted if it can’t be used on the most visited pages. Are there any plans to allow this?
Tesh, we will be looking at layouts and this will be considered within this overview - we have been very mindful in our design of not allowing home pages to become overly cluttered (which then detracts from their appearance) but appreciate that there may be a place for some additional functionality in them - rest assured your comments will be discussed at our next development review
I have to be here because it's about widget updates...
Had a great development meeting today and have some exciting options to consider, this may well involve us being able to make the home page more personal to clubs with the ability to select certain content - we need to work on this and there will be more info in our next newsletter
It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
