The ClubBuzz sports forum is a place for anyone linked to an amateur sports club to get together to discuss hot topics and issues in grass roots sports.
The riots are a reminder to us that there are many thousands of disenfranchised young people who have little focus in life and will turn to violence and crime with little encouragement. How can sports clubs engage these youngsters to get them involved in the more productive, structured and disciplined pastime of sport or physical activity and help to prevent more and more youngsters going down the wrong path?
It's such a difficult question because many of these kids will never engage with sports clubs because they have their own "sub culture" - we need to try and work with youth workers and local community leaders to see how we at sports clubs can reach out and support the work that is already being done
